For a polygon, enter one X,Y point per line. X increases right and Y increases down. Self-intersecting polygons are not supported.

The output is separate SVG, DXF and JSON markup. It does not inspect a drawing or prove that any area is a revision. In the DXF each cloud is one closed polyline of arcs on layer XM-REVCLOUD and each delta marker is on XM-DELTA; like the SVG, the numbers have no unit, so place it at the scale of your sheet.

Save your download before you leave the page — it exists only in this tab.

How do I draw revision clouds and delta markers?

  1. Enter the width, height and cloud arc size. X increases right and Y increases down.

  2. Add rectangles with X, Y, width and height, or polygons with one X,Y point per line. Optionally add a short delta label.

  3. Generate the markup, verify every region against the authoritative drawing, then download the SVG, DXF or JSON before resetting or leaving.

How is the cloud outline drawn?

This revision cloud generator draws the scalloped cloud outline used to mark a change on a drawing, from a rectangle or polygon you enter, and saves it as SVG, or as DXF to bring into CAD.

Each edge of a region is split into equal steps of about the arc size, and each step is drawn as a red arc bulging outward, which gives the familiar cloud outline. A label, if given, is drawn in a circle at the region’s first point. The numbers have no unit: use the same unit as the sheet you will place the SVG on, and scale the file to match. In the DXF each cloud is one closed polyline of arcs through the same points, and one drawing unit is one unit you entered. The JSON file records the exact points, page size, arc size and labels in Xenmark’s revision-markup v1 format.

How Xenmark makes it easy to draw revision clouds and delta markers

  • Revision clouds from exact coordinates

Enter a rectangle, or a polygon of up to 50 points, and each edge is traced with even arcs that bulge outward from the region.

  • Nothing you enter leaves this tab

What you type is held and worked on in this tab only. There is no upload, no account and no server for it to go to.

  • A delta label with any cloud

Give a region a label, such as A or 3, and it is drawn in a circled marker centred on the region’s first point. Keep it to one or two characters; longer labels run outside the circle.

  • SVG and DXF to use, JSON to keep

Download the markup as SVG to look at or DXF to bring into CAD, and the exact points, bounds and arc size as versioned JSON for a script or records system.

  • Up to twenty regions in one set

Add regions one at a time and each is checked against the page bounds as it goes in. Any region can be removed from the list before generating.

  • Nothing to install

It runs in the browser you already have. There is no plug-in, no desktop application and no sign-up to get through first.

Limitations

What this tool does not do, stated up front.

  • The tool does not inspect or compare drawings, suggest revisions or prove that a selected area changed. Every region is entered and confirmed by the user.

  • It does not open a PDF or add clouds to one; you place the SVG or DXF in your drawing, CAD or PDF software yourself.

  • Self-intersecting polygons are not supported and are not detected, so check that polygon edges do not cross. Resizing or positioning the SVG incorrectly changes its alignment.

Questions

Does the tool find drawing changes automatically?

No. It generates only the manual regions you enter. It performs no comparison and makes no authoritative revision claim. Marking up changes for a team? Xenmark lets reviewers pin numbered comments on the sheet and track each one.

Why download JSON as well as SVG?

The SVG is the picture; the JSON records the exact points, page size, arc size and labels behind it, useful for a script or a records system. The SVG has no fixed print size, so scale it to your sheet when you place it.

Can I add the cloud directly to a PDF?

No. It makes separate SVG, DXF and JSON files, which you place in your drawing, CAD or PDF software.

Why did Xenmark build a free revision cloud generator?

Xenmark AS is a Norwegian software company building browser-based drawing review tools for owners, consultants, operators and other teams that receive and review technical drawings. Those teams work with drawing numbers, revisions and client details that are not always meant to leave the office. So these everyday tools are free and run entirely in your browser: no account, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere. You can check that yourself — open your browser’s network tab, draw a revision cloud, and watch nothing leave. What this tool cannot do is listed under Limitations above.

Beyond the free tools

Reviewing the drawings, not just handling the files?

Xenmark is affordable PDF markup and structured drawing review in the browser. Invite reviewers, pin numbered comments on the sheet, track every one by author and status, and export a clean PDF and Excel when the review is done. Unlike these tools, a review is shared, so its drawings are uploaded to your Xenmark project.

Free forever plan. Reviewers you invite never pay.
