How do I check CAD layer names against a naming convention?
Choose a delimiter, a letter case (or Any, which leaves case unchecked), the number of segments, the longest segment allowed and whether a segment may repeat within a name.
Paste one layer name per line. Blank lines are ignored; spaces around a name are kept and reported.
Select Check names. Each row shows its problems and, where trimming spaces or changing case would fix it, a suggested name. Download the results as JSON if you need a record.
What rules does the layer name checker apply?
Paste a list of CAD layer names and check each one against rules you set: the delimiter, letter case, number of segments and segment length. Paste names copied or exported from your CAD application's layer list; nothing is uploaded, stored or rewritten.
These rules allow only ASCII letters and digits inside segments, separated by the one delimiter you choose. Each name is checked for control characters, spaces around it, misplaced delimiters, segment count and length, letter case and repeated segments, and a row that repeats another row exactly, including case, is flagged as a duplicate. A suggestion appears only when trimming spaces and applying the chosen case would be enough; your list is never changed.

Limitations
What this tool does not do, stated up front.
It checks your own rules only, not ISO, BS, Uniclass, AIA, client or vendor standards, so a match is not a compliance certificate.
The configurable rules are generic and cannot establish that a name is semantically correct, suitable for a project or accepted by another application.
Input is pasted text only: up to 500 names of up to 80 characters each, in at most 1,000 lines and 40,000 characters; a longer name stops the check, and the message names its line. This version does not open drawings, inspect layers, import files, run your own regular expressions or apply suggested changes.
Questions
Which published standard does this checker use?
None. It uses Xenmark's configurable rules: you choose the delimiter, letter case, segment count and segment length, but not custom patterns or word lists. No published standards table is copied into the tool.
Can it read layer names from a DWG file?
No. Paste the names as text, one per line, copied or exported from your CAD application's layer list.
Are duplicate names case sensitive?
Yes. Two rows are duplicates only when they match exactly, including letter case. Repeating a segment inside one name is checked separately and can be allowed or refused in the rules.
