Each entry is one row of the CSV. Fields marked * are required. CSV export always uses spreadsheet-safe mode: values beginning with =, +, - or @ after spaces receive a protective apostrophe in the exported file only.

How do I keep an RFI log?

  1. Enter the RFI number, subject and question for each required row; add who raised it, who owns it, the dates, a status and the response as they arrive.

  2. Add an entry for each new question, up to 500 entries, remove one that’s been withdrawn, or use Sort by — for example by due date. Each entry’s RFI ID stays with it however the log is sorted.

  3. Select Prepare safe CSV, correct any listed field errors, then download xenmark-rfi-log.csv before resetting or leaving.

How are RFI numbers and dates kept intact?

An RFI log tracks every request for information on a project, with who asked, who must answer, by when, and the answer. Build one here and download it as a CSV that opens in Excel. Questions and responses are not uploaded, autosaved or persisted.

RFI numbers are held as text, dates are checked as real calendar days with no timezone conversion, and multiline questions and responses are safely quoted. A question or response starting with a dash is exported with a leading apostrophe — the tool’s own doing, so it is never read as a formula — and sorting is alphabetical, also done by the tool itself. Once the file is opened, the spreadsheet can still drop a leading zero from an RFI number. The tool records user-entered data but does not run an approval or notification workflow.

    Each RFI carries its number, subject, question and response, with the date raised, due date and response date held in separate columns.

    Status comes from a fixed list of four values, so filtering the downloaded log for open questions does not miss a differently spelled entry.

  • Dates that stay calendar dates

    All three dates are plain YYYY-MM-DD values, checked as real days and written out as typed, with no time zone to shift them by a day.

  • Sort the log by due date

    Sorting by due date orders the log by deadline, and the descending order reverses it. Entries with no due date come first in ascending order.

  • Nothing to install

    It runs in the browser you already have. There is no plug-in, no desktop application and no sign-up to get through first.

Limitations

What this tool does not do, stated up front.

  • The ten columns and four statuses are fixed and follow no particular contract form. Check them against your project’s RFI procedure.

  • This version does not send RFIs, notify assignees, attach evidence, create XLSX files or sync with a project platform.

  • The tool does not verify contractual deadlines, response adequacy, issue closure or compliance with a project procedure.

Questions

Are dates converted through a timezone?

No. Dates are explicit YYYY-MM-DD calendar values and are validated without silently converting them to timestamps.

What is an RFI log?

A register of every request for information on a project, with who asked, who must answer, by when, and the answer. This tool builds one as a CSV.

Can I sort RFIs by due date?

Yes. Choose Due date under Sort by, pick ascending or descending, and select Sort entries. In ascending order, entries with no due date come first.
