Common A-series sheet dimensions
These reference values are derived from an 841 × 1189 mm starting rectangle by repeatedly halving the long side and truncating odd millimetres. They describe the current sheet dimensions; they do not identify the source paper size of a PDF or scan. A1 is 594 × 841 mm (23.39 × 33.11 in) and A3 is 297 × 420 mm (11.69 × 16.54 in).
| Format | Portrait (mm) | Portrait (in) | Landscape (mm) | Landscape (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A0 | 841 × 1189 | 33.11 × 46.81 | 1189 × 841 | 46.81 × 33.11 |
| A1 | 594 × 841 | 23.39 × 33.11 | 841 × 594 | 33.11 × 23.39 |
| A2 | 420 × 594 | 16.54 × 23.39 | 594 × 420 | 23.39 × 16.54 |
| A3 | 297 × 420 | 11.69 × 16.54 | 420 × 297 | 16.54 × 11.69 |
| A4 | 210 × 297 | 8.27 × 11.69 | 297 × 210 | 11.69 × 8.27 |
| A5 | 148 × 210 | 5.83 × 8.27 | 210 × 148 | 8.27 × 5.83 |
| A6 | 105 × 148 | 4.13 × 5.83 | 148 × 105 | 5.83 × 4.13 |
Print at Actual size (100%). Disable Fit to page or any automatic scaling when a physical sheet dimension matters. Printer margins and drivers can still affect the final output.

How do I find the size of an A-series sheet?
Find the sheet designation from A0 through A6.
Read the portrait or landscape dimensions in the unit you need.
Compare those dimensions with your document or printer settings; check actual output when physical size matters.
How are A-series paper sizes worked out?
This drawing sheet size reference lists the A0 to A6 paper sizes in millimetres and inches, in portrait and landscape.
Each A size is the one above it cut in half across its long side, with any half millimetre dropped: A0 is 841 × 1189 mm, so A1 is 594 × 841 mm. Landscape swaps width and height. Inch values are converted at 25.4 mm per inch and shown to two decimal places. These are the A-series sizes defined in ISO 216.
How Xenmark makes it easy to look up a drawing sheet size
A0 to A6 in a single table
Every size from A0 down to A6 sits in one table, so neighbouring sheets can be compared without switching pages or changing options.
Portrait and landscape side by side
Each size is listed both ways round, width first, so there is no need to swap the numbers yourself when setting up a landscape sheet.
Millimetres and inches together
Millimetre dimensions sit beside inch values converted at 25.4 mm per inch and shown to two decimal places, for printers and software set up in either unit.
Where the numbers come from, stated
The page explains that each size comes from halving the longer side of the sheet above and dropping any odd millimetre, so any figure can be checked by hand.
Print settings noted beside the table
A reminder under the table covers Actual size and Fit to page, the settings that decide whether a printed sheet matches the dimensions shown.
Nothing to install
It runs in the browser you already have. There is no plug-in, no desktop application and no sign-up to get through first.
Limitations
What this tool does not do, stated up front.
This reference lists common A0–A6 dimensions; it is not a standards publication or certification, and it does not list US ANSI or ARCH sheet sizes.
Sheet dimensions do not reveal drawing scale or the original paper size of a scan.
Printer margins and Fit to page can alter physical output; inch values shown are rounded.
Questions
Does landscape change the sheet size?
No. It swaps width and height; the same physical sheet is rotated.
What size is A1 in mm?
A1 is 594 × 841 mm (23.39 × 33.11 in); in landscape it is 841 × 594 mm.
Does this list US drawing sizes such as ARCH D?
No. Only A0 to A6 are listed.
Why did Xenmark publish a free sheet size reference?
Xenmark AS is a Norwegian software company building browser-based drawing review tools for owners, consultants, operators and other teams that receive and review technical drawings. Those teams need everyday drawing facts to hand. So these tools are free and run entirely in your browser: no account, and everything shown here is part of the page itself, so nothing is sent anywhere as you use it. You can check that yourself — open your browser’s network tab, read down the table, and watch nothing leave. What this tool cannot do is listed under Limitations above.

Beyond the free tools
Reviewing the drawings, not just handling the files?
Xenmark is affordable PDF markup and structured drawing review in the browser. Invite reviewers, pin numbered comments on the sheet, track every one by author and status, and export a clean PDF and Excel when the review is done. Unlike these tools, a review is shared, so its drawings are uploaded to your Xenmark project.
Free forever plan. Reviewers you invite never pay.
