Some feedback is a design preference, some is coordination, and some is a very specific question about one opening, room or detail. Review the plan where the question actually is

Architecture is visual work, so written feedback on its own can be surprisingly awkward. “Door to plant room should move” is much clearer when the reviewer marks the actual door. The same applies to a room layout, circulation route, detail reference, ceiling zone or clearance.

In Xenmark, the markup provides the location and the comment explains what the reviewer wants to say. If somebody needs to respond, the reply stays with that same point. The result is easier to read than a separate list where every comment needs a page number and a written description of its location.

Let consultants review the same drawing

An architect may receive comments from several disciplines against the same issue of a drawing. If structural, electrical and mechanical reviewers each return their own PDF, somebody has to merge the information mentally before the design team can act on it. Two reviewers may even be talking about the same area without seeing each other’s point. A shared review gives those disciplines one place to contribute.

It does not replace BIM coordination or discipline-specific design tools. It simply makes the PDF review less fragmented when the issued drawing needs comments from several people.

Make client feedback easier to interpret

Clients often know exactly what they want changed, but they may not express it in the same technical language as the design team. Letting them point to the area on the drawing can remove a lot of ambiguity.

A client can mark the room, opening or layout they are discussing and add a short explanation. The architect can reply to that exact point, ask for clarification or confirm what will be changed. That is generally easier to follow than a chain of screenshots, emails and references to “the room on the left”.

Keep design discussion out of separate email threads

Some architectural comments are resolved immediately. Others take several replies.

A consultant raises an issue. The architect responds. The client changes the requirement. The consultant confirms that the revised solution works.

A drawing with three comments is easy to follow. A package with dozens of comments from several reviewers is different.

Some issues have been answered but still need confirmation. Some require a drawing change. Some are already finished. Statuses give the team a simple way to keep that distinction visible.

The point is not to add process for the sake of it. It is to avoid the familiar end-of-review exercise where somebody has to read through every comment again just to find out what is still open.

Keep earlier feedback useful when the plan changes

Architectural drawings go through revisions as the design develops. When a new issue is uploaded, the previous review still matters. It explains why a room moved, why a detail changed or why a consultant asked for something different. Keeping that context around the review makes it easier to check the next revision against what was actually requested.

It also helps when reviewers return after a few days or weeks and no longer remember every detail of the earlier discussion.
